Welcome to Hogwarts! There are a few rules you must abide by in order to remain a student in good standing at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. They are as follows:
- Absolutely No God-moding. This means you cannot determine what happens to another character, only what happens to your character. For example: "Ariadne slashed her wand and spoke the incantation, causing Tituba to fall." This is an example of God-moding. You can only say "Ariadne slashed her wand and spoke the incantation." Then the other character posts, describing what happened to them based on your character's actions.
- No "Mary Sue's", that is, no perfect people. No one is perfect, and no character ought to be either. Your character cannot possibly be the best at potions, the most amazing flyer, number one in transfiguration class, etc., etc.
- Please keep the profanity to a minimum. I am not going to say that you can't curse; just remember there might be younger ears/eyes around and so try to choose your words carefully.
- The same goes for sexual references. Again, I am not putting any restrictions on as of this moment, but please keep your references to about a PG rating. If things get really bad this might change.
- Please respect those around you. Absolutely NO racial slurs etc. The term "Mudblood" is allowed based on the fact that is in the Harry Potter books.
- You may not kill any other characters. This falls under the category of God-moding but I thought it should be mentioned.
- Please try to make your posts worth posting, e.g. no one-liners. It is very difficult to try to respond to someone in character who barely writes anything. Also, try to have correct spelling and grammar when possible. Obviously you won't be punished for bad grammar, but it is easier on everyone when you use proper grammar and spelling.
- Have fun! This site was created for the enjoyment of Harry Potter fans, and I hope it serves its purpose.
